Samantha Samuels MEd, RP

At Ashes to Empowered Therapy, our goal is to rise like the phoenix from the ashes that were meant to bury us. The phoenix, which has been a meaningful symbol in my own journey, is reflective of resurrection, renewal and rebirth from the most difficult circumstances. Through psychotherapy, we re-discover the power that has always existed within us to transform our lives from the inside out.

I am passionate about helping people from all walks of life heal from their wounds. Whether it is painful childhood memories, one or more major events, relationships, or a series of micro-traumas, trauma causes changes in the brain and body. This shapes us in subtle ways, many of which are unconscious and affect our self-worth and behaviour.  The stories we tell, define our lives in our own eyes and in the eyes of others. Different narratives lead to different future experiences.

The first step in healing is recognition that your past experiences may be influencing you in this moment in ways that you may not understand. What self-limiting beliefs have you incorporated into your story? I commend your courage in seeking a guide to begin your own metamorphosis. Regardless of what happened to you in the past, it is never too late start the healing process.

I believe that each person has all the wisdom they need to heal within themselves. It is my role to create a safe and confidential space for you to re-discover your values, purpose, needs, wishes and desires. You may discover hidden parts of yourself as you talk openly and honestly without fear of judgement.

Devyani RP

Devyani is a Registered Psychotherapist (fluent in English and Hindi) who works with adults (18+) and couples navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, identity concerns, ADHD, trauma, and emotional overwhelm. Her path into psychotherapy began with a background in Sociology and Early Childhood Education, and early work supporting children and at-risk youth.

Through her work in both community settings and private practice, Devyani has developed a deep respect for meeting clients exactly where they are. She believes that healing is not one-size-fits-all, and approaches therapy with compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story.

As a South Asian therapist, Devyani understands the complexities that can arise when navigating dual cultural identities, family expectations, and evolving personal values. Her approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing from DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and Narrative Therapy.

Devyani aims to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can gain clarity, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.
